Kombo Breaker [Episode Six]

Posted in AMN, Kombo Breaker by Casey-AMN on the August 29th, 2008

After a short hiatus, the regular Kombo Breaker crew is back and better than ever. Sean takes the reins while Dan and Phil go in depth with their impressions on what could be the controversy of the year: Too Human. Is Denis Dyack’s decade and a half project a magnum opus or a massive faux paus? We also run through the massive surge of downloadable titles and talk about what the future holds for them, as well as the glut of gaming conventions this summer.

Also, we’re introducing a mailbag feature on the show and are looking for your questions and comments. We mean it: SEND US YOUR QUESTIONS. As incentive, any listener whose question/comment makes it onto the show will be automatically entered into a monthly drawing for a game! Post your questions on this article and you might hear them on next week’s show! You’re able to post questions weekly so make sure to keep up with the news on Kombo as well as the latest games.

MaxKom: We’re Back!

Posted in AMN, Maximum Kombo by KomboStaff on the August 13th, 2008

After the power outage that destroyed all chances of an episode last week, we’re back and better than ever! This week Roger DiLuigi is joined by Kombo’s forum moderator Andy Pocock (Monkeylord), Mike Wolfskin, John Van Ort and a surprise guest to talk about “What’s on Tap?”, the recent LittleBigPlanet pre-order revelations, Pandemic, the Beijing Olympics, and the hype surrounding EA’s new IP, Dead Space.

Also, this week’s episode marks the debut of the new “Mailtime!” segment where members of the Kombo forums can ask the regular crew (or even particular hosts) any questions that pop into their heads and we’ll answer them. Some of the Mailtime topic this week included our personal GoTYs for 2007, our favorite planets from Super Mario Galaxy, and whether a burger should be considering a sandwich or if it’s a separate sub-genre of food stuff. So grab your Pringles, sit back, and relax because MaxKom is back is full form (and better than ever thanks to the wonders of Garage Band)!

This is a MUST LISTEN episode so download, listen, and use it to enjoy your weekend (and the upcoming week since it makes public transportation a lot more enjoyable)!

  • Kombo Breaker [I Love the Juices!]

Posted in Kombo Breaker by Casey-AMN on the August 7th, 2008

Phil and Nathan go missing while Jonny “Henchman” Hechema steps in to join Sean and Dan on this week’s episode. We go in-depth about everyone’s newest digital addiction, otherwise known-as Geometry Wars Evolved 2, revisit the wonder that is Pikmin 2, and the latest big release, Soul Calibur IV.

Also, join us to find out whether we actually finish games or leave them half-beaten (pun intended) and neglected on our shelves. We top off the cast with an in-depth look at Nintendo’s Q1 financial report and what it means for Nintendo now as well as into the future. Can the Wii be stopped? Do DS sales warrant discussion of its successor? Listen to find out and always make sure to share your thoughts in the forums!

  • MaxKom: It’s the Zombie Countdown!

Posted in AMN, Maximum Kombo by KomboStaff on the July 29th, 2008

Enjoy this episode because it almost didn’t happen! This week we look at the four most requested and most popular threads currently on the Kombo forums, try to convince Mike that Little Big Planet is the greatest thing since sliced bread, introduce and re-introduce Sean O’ Neill and Barry Kachur to the MaxKom lineup, discuss the latest and greatest season of Law and Order SVU, say a fond good-bye to the Bennigan’s restaurant chain, and announce something that will revolutionize the way that MaxKom interacts with the Kombo community. For a podcast that almost wasn’t recorded (or any one of our previous episodes for that matter), we give you one of the best episodes in MaxKom’s history.

This is a MUST LISTEN episode so download, listen, and use it to enjoy your weekend (and the upcoming week since it makes public transportation a lot more enjoyable)!

Posted in Kombo Breaker by Casey-AMN on the July 26th, 2008

There were plenty of hands-on impressions on Kombo this week but hear more in-depth discussion about all of E3’s best shown games. The guys then go on to discuss the state of E3 itself and whether it can last in its current state or not.

This week is a must listen clocking in around 2 hours and 15 minutes. You’ll also be treated to a special preview of our newest addition to the podcast network, FTW.
